Please read this agreement before booking a VerticalMuse adult pole, hammock, aerial yoga or hoop class, course, private lesson or equipment-hire session. Your acknowledgement covers the session or course identified in your booking. Please read the current agreement when making future bookings and tell us about relevant changes before every session.
1. Age and participation
All adult classes are for participants aged 16 or over. If you are 16 or 17, please contact us before attending to arrange any parent or legal guardian consent and safeguarding requirements applicable to your booking. Junior classes use our separate Junior Aerial Participation & Safety Agreement.
2. Understanding the risks
Pole and aerial activities involve physical exertion, rotation, inversions, height, gripping and balancing. Risks include bruising, friction burns, strains, dizziness, falls and more serious injury. Instruction, spotting and mats can reduce risks but cannot remove them completely. Take part voluntarily, work within your experience and ability, and ask for clarification whenever you are unsure.
3. Health and changes before each session
Tell your instructor privately before participating about any injury, pregnancy, recent surgery, medical condition, medication effect or movement restriction relevant to safe participation. You do not need to put detailed medical information in the booking form. If you are unsure whether an activity is suitable, seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional before participating. Instructors cannot diagnose conditions or give medical clearance.
Update the instructor when relevant circumstances change. Stop immediately and tell them if you experience pain, dizziness, faintness, unusual breathlessness or feel unsafe. We may adapt or stop an activity when continuing would be unsafe.
4. Safety rules
- Follow the instructor's directions and the studio's equipment and safety rules. Complete the appropriate warm-up and cool-down.
- Only attempt movements appropriate to your ability and, during taught sessions, those authorised by the instructor. Do not practise new drops, inversions or other unfamiliar skills without appropriate instruction.
- Use mats and other safety equipment as directed. Do not adjust rigging, apparatus height or equipment settings without permission. Report damage or concerns immediately and stop using affected equipment.
- Wear suitable clothing, remove jewellery as directed and avoid products that make equipment or your grip slippery.
- Do not participate while impaired by alcohol, drugs or medication. Keep the training area clear and respect other participants' space.
5. Spotting and physical assistance
An instructor may offer hands-on spotting or assistance for safety and learning. They should explain the support and check you are comfortable. Tell them if you do not want physical contact or want to stop; an alternative activity may be needed. Immediate assistance may be necessary to prevent injury in an emergency.
6. Equipment hire and independent practice
If your booking is for equipment hire rather than a taught lesson, do not assume instruction or spotting is included. Confirm the arrangements with the studio before starting. Practise only skills you can perform safely within your training and experience, follow all hire restrictions and do not teach or spot others unless the studio has authorised this. Ask staff if you are unsure about equipment or safe use.
7. Incidents and emergencies
Report injuries and incidents promptly. Staff may provide first aid within their training and contact emergency services where appropriate. This acknowledgement does not give blanket permission for medical treatment.
8. Your information
Booking information is handled under our Privacy Policy. Share only information needed for safe participation. If we need to record health information, we will explain its use and obtain separate explicit consent where we rely on consent. The safety acknowledgement is not permission for marketing, photography or unrelated use of health information.
9. Responsibility and your rights
You acknowledge the physical risks and agree to follow the safety requirements above. Nothing in this agreement excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected. The booking terms and conditions also apply.
10. Booking acknowledgement
By selecting the required acknowledgement in the booking form, you confirm that you are the participant, are aged 16 or over, have read and understood this agreement, and agree to follow its safety requirements for the session or course booked. If booking for another adult, the participant must read and personally confirm the agreement before taking part; you must not give consent on their behalf.
