This agreement applies to VerticalMuse junior aerial classes, trials and courses, including future junior sessions. The acknowledgement given with each booking relates to the child and session or course identified in that booking. Please read the current version when booking and tell us about relevant changes before each session.
1. Parent or guardian permission
I confirm that I am the participating child's parent or legal guardian and have authority to give permission for their participation in junior aerial sessions. The child must meet the age requirements stated for the booked session. I will provide accurate child, parent/guardian and emergency-contact details.
2. A parent or guardian must stay
A parent or legal guardian must remain at the studio throughout the session, stay available to the instructor and accompany the child on departure. This is not a drop-off session. Please stay in the area designated by the instructor, keep access routes and landing areas clear, and do not use equipment or attempt to spot a child unless the instructor specifically directs you. The instructor remains responsible for leading the class safely.
3. Understanding the activity and its risks
Junior aerial may involve climbing, supported hanging, balancing, spinning, stretching and movements above the floor using aerial apparatus. Even with appropriate instruction and safety precautions, risks include bruises, friction discomfort, dizziness, strains, falls and potentially serious injury. I understand these risks and give permission for my child to take part in age-appropriate, instructor-led activities. No child is required to attempt a movement they do not want to try.
4. Information needed for safe participation
Before each session, I will tell the instructor privately about any relevant injury, medical condition, allergy, recent surgery, medication effect or support need that could affect my child's participation or emergency care. I will explain any changes since booking. Please share only information relevant to the session. If there is uncertainty about safe participation, we may need advice from an appropriate healthcare professional before the activity proceeds; instructors cannot provide medical clearance.
My child should not participate while unwell or injured in a way that makes participation unsafe. I will encourage them to report pain, dizziness, distress or discomfort promptly. The instructor may adapt or stop an activity where needed for safety.
5. Session rules
- Arrive in time for the safety briefing and warm-up. A child who misses essential preparation may be unable to join.
- Follow the instructor's directions and use equipment only when invited and supervised.
- Do not attempt unsupervised climbs, drops, inversions or unfamiliar skills.
- Keep mats, apparatus and landing areas clear; do not move or adjust equipment.
- Wear the clothing specified for the class, secure long hair and remove jewellery or items that could snag or damage equipment.
- Tell the instructor immediately about pain, dizziness, distress or an equipment concern. Children may stop or ask for help at any time.
- Treat other participants respectfully. Do not photograph or film other children without appropriate permission.
6. Physical assistance and emergencies
Teaching may involve instructor spotting or physical assistance to support safe movement. The instructor should explain assistance in an age-appropriate way and respect the child's comfort and wishes. Please discuss any concerns before the session; activities may need to be adapted. Necessary action may be taken to prevent an immediate injury.
If an incident occurs, staff may provide appropriate first aid within their training and call the emergency services where necessary. The parent or guardian must remain available. This agreement does not authorise unrestricted medical treatment or replace any consent required by healthcare professionals.
7. Photography and video are optional
Participation does not depend on agreeing to photography or filming. Permission is requested separately in the booking form and applies to the session or course covered by that booking. If permission is given, VerticalMuse may take identifiable photos/video of the child and use them on the VerticalMuse website and its social-media accounts to promote its classes. This permission does not cover paid advertisements or third-party promotional use.
The child's wishes should also be respected: if they do not want to be filmed, tell the instructor and they should not be filmed. We will not publish the child's full name, tag their personal account or include identifying personal details alongside the content.
A parent/guardian or the child may withdraw permission by contacting verticalmuselondon@gmail.com. VerticalMuse will stop further consent-based use and remove affected content from channels it controls. Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful use unlawful. Copies already saved or independently shared by other people may be outside VerticalMuse's control.
8. Personal information
Booking details and safety acknowledgements are used to administer and document the session. Relevant health/support information should be restricted to those who need it for safe participation or emergency care. See the privacy policy at our Privacy Policy for information about data use and rights. If we need to collect health information, we will explain how it will be used and request separate explicit consent where we rely on consent. The participation acknowledgement is not consent to use health information for unrelated purposes.
9. Liability and your rights
Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This agreement does not remove the studio's duty to take reasonable care or affect statutory consumer rights. Understanding the inherent risks of aerial activity is not an agreement to excuse negligent teaching, unsafe equipment or inadequate precautions.
10. Parent/guardian acknowledgement
I have read and understood this agreement, had the opportunity to ask questions, and give permission for my child to participate in the junior aerial session or course identified in the booking. I will explain the relevant safety rules to my child in an age-appropriate way.
